When I got selected, I already knew I’d be the odd one out, both in musical style and appearance. I don’t really fit the “standard” of artists they usually support. However, I showed up every week and did my thing :) For me, this was about showing people I’m back on track after being sick for so long, building my network, and creating new collaborations. I achieved all of that, so I got exactly what I came for. Even if I don’t fully fit the FunX image, they still gave me a spot on their platform throughout the entire (!) journey ❤️

That being said, I think it's really important to stay true to yourself. It can be pretty tempting to dress a certain way or make music that doesn't align with who you are, just because it might increase your chances. For me, this was another reminder to stay true to my craft and myself. I am not like everyone else and I don't wanna be like everyone else. Matter of fact, everyone else is taken already so all I can do is be myself (and so do you!)

I know that being myself won't make it easy for me in this industry and I'm playing it in hard mode (🤣) by not wearing make-up, wearing my afro, dressing modestly and singing about meaningful themes, but I'm enjoying it and it doesn't matter to me where it will take me because I've already gotten much further than I could ever imagine.

So all in all I feel like 2nd place is a solid achievement for someone who doesn't fit the image. Thank you thank you thank you FunX!❤️🥈
