Looking back at November 6! A busy day for our staff - giving talks, demos, and workshops at both the BMS Research Conference and the TechMed Event! 👩‍💻👨‍💻📱⌚️

For her Master’s thesis in Interaction Technology, Kim is exploring how smartwatches can support the monitoring and treatment of people detoxing from opioids, benzodiazepines, and alcohol.
As part of the Detox@Home project, participants at Radboudumc wear an EmbracePlus smartwatch that collects data throughout detoxification. Kim connects this data to daily assessments to see if withdrawal symptoms can be detected automatically with machine learning.
Her goal: to make detoxing at home safer, more personalized, and more effective.

💡 Learning by doing in action! In the minor Sustainable Well-being in a Technological Society minor students are taking on a challenge: creating and running their own Experience Sampling study with TIIM. 🎯

🌿✨ Immersion in VR… but make it tactile!Daniel Subertova internship is about exploring how haptic feedback can make Virtual Reality feel more real. Using a bHaptics Tactsuit, Daniel designed unique vibration patterns that simulate the feeling of brushing against branches while moving through a forest. 🌲🦌
The VR environment—originally created by Yue Li as part of her PhD—lets participants step into the life of a deer, fostering empathy for nature by experiencing its challenges up close. 🦌💚
Through an iterative design process, Daniel developed and tested 4 different haptic patterns, finally integrating the most immersive one into the Unity-based VR world. The result? You don’t just see the forest—you feel it.
