Hey! Ik ben Jochem en ik vervul dit jaar de functies secretaris en vicevoorzitter van de ORAS-fractie. Ik houd me onder andere bezig met het goed functioneren van de groep. Samen met Thomas werk ik aan portefeuille Onderwijs, waarbij ik me bezighoud met onderwerpen variërend van studentenwelzijn tot de strategische agenda van de TU Delft. Daarnaast ben ik samen met Elaine verantwoordelijk voor opvolging en campagne. Heb je interesse in wat ik doe of wil je eens sparren? Hey! I'm Jochem and this year I’m serving as secretary and vice-chair of the ORAS faction.
I’m involved in ensuring the group functions well. Together with Thomas, I work on the Education portfolio, where I focus on topics ranging from student well-being to the strategic agenda of TU Delft. Finally, together with Elaine, I’m responsible for succession and campaigning. Nu dat de campagne klaar en we weer verzekerd zijn van 6 zetels kunnen we door met de rest van onze taken. We hebben namelijk vorige maand ook nog heel veel andere dingen gedaan dan campagne voeren. Daan is nog steeds heel druk bezig met ITK en Roos blijft schurftvrij meubilair onderzoeken op de campus. Step is ook druk met de nieuwe beleidsbrief van de overheid. Het jaar komt al snel ten einde maar we zitten nog even niet stil.

Now that the campaign is over and we are assured of 6 seats again, we can continue with the rest of our tasks. We did a lot of other things last month than campaigning. Daan is still very busy with ITK and Roos continues to research scabies-free furniture on campus. Step is also busy with the new policy letter from the government. The year is coming to an end soon, but we are not sitting restless for the last bit.

Education – INSTITUTIONAL AUDIT (ITK)
Last week, the first part of the ITK took place, we expressed our concerns to the NVAO and the Executive Board. Key issues discussed included: study feasibility and workload, internationalisation, the recognition of student board work, and the risks associated with TU Delft’s growth ambitions.

Facilities & Sustainability – SCABIES-FREE FURNITURE
We’re still actively working on addressing the issue of scabies-safe furniture on campus. A study will now be launched to investigate how contagious scabies might be via campus furniture. It’s great to see that this important topic is being picked up quickly, both within and outside the university.

Student Development – GOVERNMENT POLICY ON PUBLIC FUNDING FOR PRIVATE ACTIVITIES
The Dutch Ministry of Education (OCW) has outlined new rules regarding the use of public funds for private activities at institutions like TU Delft. This affects things like faculty bars, food services, and sports facilities, which are now classified as private activities. Starting in 2025, these can only receive public funding under strict conditions, such as cost-covering or market-based pricing and transparent accounting.
