There is so much talent and we still can't get enough of it💥

During Kingpins 2022, the international denim trade show, a denim exhibition featured a selection of highlights from Jean School graduates, created during their studies & currently working in the denim industry worldwide. Jean School is an initiative of ROC van Amsterdam, House of Denim and HTNK International in collaboration with major, international players from the denim & fashion industry. HTNK is looking for The Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI), part of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, for a Director of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (1.0 fte).

We are looking for an experienced Director who directs this educational institute with head and heart, which consists of passionate and talented students and employees.

AMFI is the largest fashion institute in the Netherlands and covers the entire fashion chain. AMFI trains talented students for careers in fashion with a teaching team of approximately 140 employees.

Denim Days on the wayyyy💥

Since 2014, each year Amsterdam turns blue and forms the center of attention for all those with an indigo heart. Denim Days brings together the community and consumers, addicts and fanatics, brands and buyers, to celebrate its unique denim passion.

Denim Days unite all denim lovers to share their dedication for denim and to spread the word about innovation and sustainability.

On October 21 and 22, the Hallen will be transformed into a brighter blue environment, with Denim City at its beating heart. Entrance is free, wearing denim is mandatory ;-)

Lichting 2022 candidate Bryan Borghans trades Amsterdam Fashion Week for International Diploma Selection during Designblok in Prague!

International Diploma Selection showcases the work of Europe's most talented graduates in product and fashion design at Designblok. The winners of both categories receive a financial prize of EUR 1,000 and the opportunity to present their work at the next Designblok. Lichting incredibly proud that Denzel has been nominated! 

Bryan Borghans graduated from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2022 and did an internship as a design assistant at Ronald van der Kemp. He designs at the intersection of couture and ready-to-wear to create luxury designs with an eye for detail. With a strong drive to keep improving, Bryan combines craftsmanship and awareness to work with integrity and forward-thinking with a key core value of stopping waste. His world changed from 2015, the moment he walked into Tomorrowlands’ Dreamville. In real life, however, he feels we live in a super-diverse, rapidly changing society where habits, norms and values are under pressure and we are constantly judged. To have an escape from this reality, he tried to capture his feeling at Dreamville in his collection. Immerse yourself in his ultimate escape and overwhelming feeling of great happiness: the feeling of EXTASE22.

From the submitted projects, the curatorial board selects a line-up of finalists who will present their diploma works to an international jury at Designblok. Designblok, Prague International Design Festival is the largest design and fashion show in Central Europe. It was founded in 1999 and every year it presents new products by designers and manufacturers with an emphasis on Czech design and creations from the regions of Central Europe.

From the most talented Dutch fashion design graduates to the most talented in Europe! 

Mariette Hoitink, Owner of HTNK International, co-Founder of the House of Denim Foundation and co-Founder of Lichting (NL), will again take a seat in the jury of the International Diploma Selection during Designblok in October 2022. Diploma Selection showcases the work of Europe's most talented graduates in product and fashion design at Designblok. 

The winners of both categories receive a financial prize of EUR 1,000 and the opportunity to present their work at the next Designblok. From the submitted projects, the curatorial board selects a line-up of finalists who will present their diploma works to an international jury at Designblok.

16 years ago, she co-founded Lichting to bridge the gap between the academies and students on the one side and the talent-hungry fashion industry on the other, with the aim to stimulate emerging talent towards a viable career. Lichting showcases the best graduates of the Dutch academies during Amsterdam Fashion Week. For Mariette, it is always extra special to see the European talents after Lichting taking their next step in the real world,
