Palm Sunday is a significant day in Christianity that marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week leading up to Easter.
It commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, when crowds welcomed him by laying down palm branches and shouting praises. Because of that, palm branches became a symbol of victory, peace, and honor.
For many Christians today, Palm Sunday is observed by:
Attending church services
Receiving or carrying palm branches
Reflecting on the events leading to Easter
Different traditions celebrate it in slightly different ways, but the core meaning stays the same: it’s both a joyful celebration and the start of a more serious, reflective week remembering the suffering and resurrection of Jesus.
