💕 Episode 3: The Accidental Date

Saturday afternoon.
The city shimmered in that lazy weekend light — warm, loud, and full of excuses not to stay indoors.

Femi had spent the morning trying (and failing) to focus on work. Every design he sketched somehow turned into Ijeoma’s face. Her laugh. The tilt of her head when she pretended not to be amused.
So, he did what any self-respecting man in denial would do — he texted her.

> Femi: “Serious question. Do you trust me?”
Ijeoma: “Absolutely not.”
Femi: “Perfect. I’ll pick you up in 20.”
Ijeoma: “You’re insane.”
Femi: “Bring sneakers.”

She showed up anyway.

When his car pulled up, she leaned against the door with her arms crossed.
“Where are we going?” she asked.

“Adventure,” he said simply, eyes glinting. “No questions.”

“Femi—”

“Nope. Not one.”

She sighed, but climbed in, curiosity betraying her.

Twenty minutes later, they parked in front of a chaotic outdoor art fair — bright colors, music, laughter, the smell of roasted corn and fresh paint in the air.

“This is your big secret?” she teased.

“Trust the process,” he said, handing her a sketchpad. “We’re making bad art today.”

“What?”

“There’s a free-paint booth. Rules are simple — you paint whatever comes to mind, no pressure. The worse it looks, the better.”

She eyed him suspiciously. “You do know I failed art in school?”

“Exactly why you’re perfect for this.”

Within minutes, they were surrounded by splashes of color, kids laughing, people smearing paint everywhere — and somehow, Ijeoma ended up with a streak of blue across her cheek.

“Hold still,” Femi said, stifling a laugh. He reached out, thumb brushing lightly against her skin as he wiped it off. The moment hung there — soft, unspoken — before she playfully dabbed green paint onto his nose.

“Oh, it’s war now,” he said, grinning.

It was chaos after that — giggles, paint splatters, mock chases around the canvas.
