Flagyl (metronidazole) is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication used to treat infections caused by bacteria and parasites, such as amoebiasis and giardiasis, which can cause diarrhea. However, it does not stop all types of runny stomach (diarrhea).

If the diarrhea is caused by:

Bacterial infections (e.g., Clostridium difficile, some food poisoning cases), Flaggyl might help, but only if prescribed by a doctor.

-Parasitic infections (e.g., amoebiasis, giardiasis), Flaggyl is commonly used.

Viral infections (e.g., norovirus, rotavirus), Flaggyl will not work.

Food intolerance, IBS, or other non-infectious causes, Flaggyl is not the solution.

SO FLAGYL SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN IF YOU HAVE RUNNY STOMACH ( FOOD INTOLERANCE)

For general diarrhea, staying hydrated with oral rehydration solutions (ORS) is the key. If symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, are severe, or include blood in stool, fever, or dehydration, it's best to see a doctor.
