Happy Feast of St.Gerard Majella
St. Gerard Majella, the patron of expectant mothers, was born in 1726 in Muro, Italy. Despite growing up in poverty and losing his father at age 12, Gerard became known for his charity and piety. He worked as a tailor and servant before attempting to join the Capuchin monastery, which he was denied due to his health. In 1749, at 23, Gerard joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer as a lay brother.

Gerard devoted himself to the vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience, serving in various roles including sacristan, gardener, and tailor. His wisdom and the ability to read consciences allowed him to counsel religious communities. Known for his mystic faculties, he performed numerous miracles, such as restoring a boy's life, blessing crops, and multiplying bread for the poor.

His most significant miracle involved a handkerchief he gave to a young girl, which later on helped her safely deliver a child when she was in danger during childbirth. This event led to his patronage of expectant mothers.

St. Gerard was afflicted with tuberculosis, but his primary concern was to do God's will. He passed away on October 16, 1755, at 29. After many reported miracles, he was beatified in 1893 by Pope Leo XIII and canonized in 1904 by Pope Pius X.

Prayer to St. Gerard Majella seeks his intercession for the unborn, mothers, those in childbirth, and for living a life aligned with God's will.
