The Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga pace, mnips, on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Augustine Padonu, at the State Command Headquarters, Ibadan.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Police stated that he had been duly informed by his predecessor about the cordial and productive working relationship existing between the Nigeria Police Force and NSCDC in Oyo State. He emphasized his commitment to sustaining and strengthening this collaboration, noting that the visit was borne out of the need to further solidify inter-agency synergy.

CP Olugbenga stressed that both agencies must continue to work hand-in-hand to ensure that the peace and tranquility currently enjoyed in Oyo State are not only maintained but enhanced. He highlighted the importance of proactive collaboration, especially in addressing emerging security challenges across the State.

The engagement provided a platform for both leaders to deliberate extensively on key security issues, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, joint operations, and collaboration at the Area Command and Divisional levels. These measures, they noted, are critical to strengthening the overall security architecture of Oyo State.

The Commissioner of Police further observed that the existence of ungoverned spaces requires deliberate and coordinated efforts through timely intelligence sharing, community policing strategies, and active stakeholder engagement. He added that the Police Command is currently planning a training session aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, and assured that NSCDC personnel would be invited to participate.

He reiterated that the rapidly evolving global security landscape necessitates timely and actionable intelligence sharing among security agencies to effectively respond to threats.

In his response, Commandant Augustine Padonu warmly welcomed the CP and appreciated the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and shared purpose. He assured the Commissioner of Police of NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the existing strong relationship, emphasizing that “we are one family.”

Commandant Padonu also expressed readiness to participate in the proposed training programme, noting that such capacity-building initiatives would further enhance inter-agency cooperation and operational effectiveness. He reaffirmed NSCDC’s dedication to collaborating closely with the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding lives and critical national assets across Oyo State.

The visit culminated in the exchange of plaques between both leaders as a symbol of mutual respect, partnership, and continued collaboration in the collective pursuit of peace and security in Oyo State.

FRCN ZONAL DIRECTOR PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO COMMANDANT PADONU, PLEDGES MEDIA SUPPORT FOR CORPS ACTIVITIES

The Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Olufemi Fulani, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, Commandant Augustine Padonu, at the State Command Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

During the visit, Mr. Fulani, who oversees eight radio stations within the Ibadan Zone, noted that he has maintained a close and longstanding relationship with NSCDC since its inception. He emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration between the FRCN and NSCDC in order to effectively achieve the mandates of both organizations.

The Zonal Director commended the immense contributions of NSCDC personnel in critical national assignments, particularly in emergency response operations and election duties. He described the Corps as a dependable partner in maintaining public safety and national stability.

He further stated that the public is eager to hear more about the achievements and activities of NSCDC, assuring that the FRCN would provide platforms across its radio stations in the zone to showcase the Corps’ efforts and successes.

In his response, the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, appreciated the visit and acknowledged the vital role of the media in security management and public enlightenment. Commandant Padonu emphasized the importance of accurate and timely dissemination of information, stating that collaboration with credible media organizations like the FRCN enhances public awareness, promotes transparency, and supports security operations.

He reaffirmed the commitment of NSCDC, Oyo State Command to continuous engagement with the media and other stakeholders in order to ensure effective service delivery and improved public safety across the state.

NSCDC OYO STATE COMMAND DEPLOYS 1,715 PERSONNEL, SPECIAL TACTICAL UNITS FOR EASTER CELEBRATION

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed a total of 1,715 personnel, including specialized tactical units, to ensure a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free 2026 Easter celebration across the state.

The State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, announced that the deployment is part of a comprehensive security arrangement aimed at protecting lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure before, during, and after the Easter festivities.

He stated that, in addition to regular personnel, the Command has strategically deployed its tactical and specialized units, including the Intelligence Team for covert surveillance and information gathering, the Armed Squad for rapid armed intervention, the Counter Terrorism Unit to address potential high-risk threats, the Agro Rangers Unit to secure farmlands and rural communities, and the Emergency Response Team for swift response to emergencies and disasters.

According to the Commandant, these units have been positioned across churches, highways, recreational centers, and other public places where large gatherings are expected, as well as vulnerable and high-risk areas within the state.

He further emphasized that the Command has strengthened inter-agency collaboration and placed all operational units on high alert to ensure effective coordination and prompt response to any security situation.

Commandant Padonu warned criminal elements to desist from any unlawful activities, stressing that the Command is fully prepared and will not hesitate to deal decisively with offenders.

Residents of Oyo State are urged to remain vigilant, adhere to security advisories, and cooperate with security agencies throughout the festive period.
