AHIAZU LG CHAIRMAN, CHIKWE ASSURES WATERTIGHT SECURITY AHEAD OF JULETIDE
Ahiazu Mbaise LGA Chairman, Chief Larry Chikwe has assured watertight security ahead of yuletide.
The LG boss who gave the assurance during his recent meeting with traditional rulers and heads of security operatives in the area said all loopholes are being plugged to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.
He commended the first batch of the vigilantes for performing exceedingly well in their recent training and reassured all of the commitment and support of Sen. Hope Uzodinma led Imo State government to reduce insecurity to the barest minimum.
Chief Chikwe emphasized that Christmas is fast approaching and that it comes with upsurge in crimes and criminality and therefore need to tighten up all cirners and leave no stone unturned.
He harped on useful information, intelligent gathering and crime detection, underscoring the importance of synergy partnership with other security agencies while calling on the vigilantes to be alert at all times and not sleep with both eyes closed.
Reacting to reports from some royal fathers on community members who could not make the list, the LG boss said some were screened out because they did not have the National Identify Number (NIN) and urged them to get theirs to stand a change for the second batch, coming up shortly.
He stated that each community has a slot of 15 government paid vigilantes but can increase the tally to 30 if they can afford the payment of 15 additional vigilantes.
The LG boss disclosed that plans are being perfected to fully collaborate with co-ordinators and unit heads of Commercial Motorcyclists (Okada) union to ensure that all operators are registered under the scheme to effectively protect them and also for them to join hands checkmate crime.
