Thursday: Texture Thursday
(Topic: Exfoliation - Less is More)

🧴Texture Thursday: Exfoliate, Don't Irritate 🧴

Exfoliation removes dead skin cells to reveal brighter, smoother skin. However, over-exfoliation is a common mistake that can wreck your skin barrier. Chemical exfoliants (like AHAs and BHAs) are often more gentle and effective than physical scrubs.

👉 The Tip: If you're new to exfoliating, start with once a week. Use a gentle chemical exfoliant like a PHA or low-percentage AHA. Listen to your skin—if it's red or stinging, you're doing too much.

Chlorpheniramine is afirst-generation alkylamine antihistamine. It is also known as a sedating or "classic" antihistamine.

2. Mechanism of Action:
It works by competitively antagonizing the action of histamine at theH1-receptor sites. This blockade inhibits the histamine-mediated symptoms of allergic reactions, such as vasodilation, increased capillary permeability, and smooth muscle stimulation. As a first-generation agent, it readily crosses the blood-brain barrier, causing sedation.

3. Indications:
· Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itchy eyes/nose/throat.

It is generally considered compatible for occasional, short-term use but should be used with caution, especially in the third trimester due to potential anticholinergic effects in the newborn.

6. Available Dosage Forms:
· Oral tablets (4 mg).
· Chewable tablets (2 mg).
· Oral syrup / elixir (commonly 2 mg/5 mL).
