Adesiyan hails from Ibadan, Oyo State. She grew up in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, although, she is a native of Ile-Oluji, Ondo state. Born into a family of 9, her father was the first Nigerian director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria while her mother was a teacher.
Funke Opeke obtained a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of รfแบนฬ, now, Obafemi Awolowo University and Columbia University, respectively. Prior to her Ministerial appointment she was country managing director for Accenture, Nigeria. She had worked with Accenture since 1985 when it was Andersen Consulting. Johnson is the pioneer head of the country's communication technology ministry, which was created as part of the transformation agenda of the Nigerian government.
Johnson co-founded a women's organization, WIMBIZ in 2001. She has earned several public commendation since taking up her first government assignment as minister in 2011. This is following the numerous achievements of her ministry notably among which is the launch of the NigComSat-IR Satellite. This has helped to complement the country's efforts at fibre connectivity and the provision of greater bandwidth. The ministry under her watch has also deployed more than 700 personal computers to secondary schools in the first phase of School Access Programme (SAP) while about 193 tertiary institutions in the country now have internet access in the Tertiary Institution Access Programme (TIAP) and 146 communities have access to Community Communication Centers deployed around the country.

Ayo Bamgbose
Born: January 27, 1932.
He is an academic linguist, the first professor of Linguistics in Nigeria. He has made contributions to education and linguistics, achieving recognition in form of honours and election to offices in professional bodies.
Bamgbose was born in Odopotu, near Ijebu Ode in Ogun State of Nigeria in 1932. His father, Rev. Sangodipe Bamgbose, was a community leader of Odopotu, who was born into a prominent family of Egungun worshippers.
After primary education Bamgbose was admitted, in 1948, into St. Andrew's College. He qualified as a grade two teacher in 1951. He then gained admission into University of Ibadan, affiliated with the University of London. He graduated with a high second class upper division B.A. (Hons) English degree of the University of London in the year 1960. He proceeded to the University of Edinburgh where he earned a diploma in general linguistics in 1961 and his PhD in 1963 with the thesis A Study of Structures and Classes in the Grammar of Modern Yoruba.
He joined the staff of the University of Ibadan in 1963 as a Lecturer, rising quickly to the grade of Senior Lecturer in 1966 and to Professor in 1968. On retirement from the University, he was honoured with the title of Professor Emeritus.
Professor Bamgbose has held several positions of responsibility at the University of ibadan, including Warden, Hall master, Head department of linguistics and African languages; Dean faculty of Arts, Chairman, Senate committee on the general studies programme; and Chairman, Senate publications committee. On retirement from the University, he was honoured with the title of professor Emeritus.
The core of Bamgbose's contribution to knowledge is his work on the structure of Yoruba language. Among his twenty-one books, Grammar of Yoruba (Cambridge University Press, 1966) remains a classic in the application of modern linguistics to Yoruba. After being educated in Lagos and Chicago, Illinois, Vaughan-Richards returned to Nigeria and established the Lagos State School of Nursing, one of the earliest nursing and general care teaching hospitals in the country.
She also later produced cosmetic products, being a notable early Nigerian beauty influencer, before eventually becoming an author with the book Black Is Beautiful.
The wife of the influential British Nigerian architect Alan Vaughan-Richards (who took her surname following their marriage in 1959), she raised a family of four children with him on land in Ikoyi that had been gifted to them as a wedding present by the Vaughan family. Her children would ultimately include the Nigerian filmmaker Remi Vaughan-Richards.
In addition to being descended from Scipio, who was a prince of the Owu Egba, Vaughan-Richards was a member of the Akinsemoyin royal family of Lagos. She was also related to the Lagos aristocrat Chief Taiwo Olowo, who was her grandfather, and the women's rights activist Kofo, Lady Ademola, who was her first cousin once removed.
