G.O.A Farm
Dive into Deliciousness
Meet Olaoye Gideon Adeoluwa , our C.E.O. In 2021, he started G.O.A Farm in Benin with a simple vision: to provide nutritious catfish products to students within the university ecosystem. By supplying processed catfish packed with protein and omega-3s, his business began reshaping student diets, one meal at a time.
But building a business while being a student was not easy. Gideon faced financial struggles. He took loans. He used his monthly allowance to keep things going. Operations were tough.
Then in 2024, everything changed. Gideon applied for the SUN Business Network NutriPitch Nourish Nigeria Challenge. He came second and won a ₦3 million grant.
That support transformed his business. Production increased from 1 metric ton to 3 metric tons. He bought a brand new Water Treatment Plant and an aerator to keep oxygen in his fish ponds longer and to control his farm water PH. He gained access to networking opportunities and legal guidance through the SBN community.
Today, Gideon dreams bigger. Over the next four years, he wants every student on campus to eat safe, nutritious fish and live healthier lives.
His advice to young entrepreneurs is simple. Find a mentor. Talk to people who have faced what you face. Share your challenges. And stay resilient.
As Gideon says, the sky is just the beginning.
