Bella was already in Richard’s office when osaro walked in.

“Hello doctor, hello nurse. Please am I allowed to give her food now??” She asked.

“Yes mama, let's go and see if she is up”. Richard replied standing up and walking into Akpere's ward with Osaro.

“Doc, should I wait here?” Bella asked, winking at him.

“Why should you be here? My friend follow me to the ward with your record book”. He ordered, dragging her to the corner, away from Osaro.

“Listen, you need to understand that this is a hospital and you are at work.. behave yourself, else you loose your job” he whispered sternly to her as he made for the ward.

They opened the door and found Akpere seated on the stretcher, rolling her eyes around the room like a lost princess.

“Hei, my daughter, you are up.” Osaro asked dropping the bag containing the food while she felt her temperature with her palm.

Akpere brushed her hand off her head in disgust.

“Who is your daughter? Please I need to go”. She retorted, facing Richard angrily.

“Well, you will go my dear, but one thing you will do for me is to eat and take your drugs before you leave okay?” He said gently with a smile, collecting the flask of food from Osaro to feed her.

He took one spoon full of the jollof rice, but Akpere flung it away still shouting, “I want to go”.

Osaro shook her head in tears and swore that it will never be well with those who put her daughter in that condition.

“And you, why are you smiling?” Richard asked Bella who stood with her record book giggling like she was in a comedy house.

“Nooo.. I'm not smiling o…” she lied.

Richard ran some check on Akpere and gave her îñjectîon since she refused to eat and take pills.

He left the ward for his office, Bella followed suit.

Osaro decided to eat Akpere's food since it has been touched and left hers for Akpere till she was ready to eat.

AT RICHARD'S OFFICE 🏥

Bella: You know, I wonder why people are so wicked.

Richard: How do you mean?

Bella: That lady does not deserve to be in this kind of situation, but people can be so wicked.

Richard: Yea you're right. But then why were you smiling? It seems to me like you do not have empathy for your fellow.

Bella: What are you saying? She was acting funny and it made me laugh. I'm sorry about that. It won't happen again.

Richard: It better not happen again. In a while you need to go back to her ward to check up on her.

Bella: okay doctor.

AT OZOEMENA'S HOUSE 🏡

Ejiro was seen packing her bags like she was going to travel.

“I need to be fast before this girl comes back to this house”.

Just then her best friend Cynthia walked in.

“Knock knock!!” She voiced out, clapping her hands.

“Who is knocking!” Ejiro walked out and realized it was her friend, she dragged her into the house forcefully.

“What are you doing here? Why didn't you call me you were coming?” Ejiro asked, her face full of worries and fear.

“What are you saying? So I now need to call you before coming to your house? When you do come to my house, do you call me? And besides, why are you sounding worried and scared?” Cynthia asked, sitting down.

“Errrr nothing. The thing is, I don't want my mother to come now and start saying I'm bringing people into her house..you know my mother na. Please you need to start going now.. I'll see you later”. Ejiro lied, forcing her friend out of the house.

“You haven't told me what your problem is o this girl.” Cynthia said, walking away.

“Don't worry I'll come to your house”.

“I don't need you.. don't come”. Cynthia fired back.

Ejiro retired back to her duty in her room, her bag almost fully packed.

AT AKPERE'S WARD 2PM

Bella entered the ward with her record book to check on Akpere and know her current state.

She found Osaro sleeping in a wrong position.

“This woman sef, why will she be sleeping like this?” She tapped her to wake up and change her sleeping position, but she remained still.

“Mama, please get up..your sleeping position is bad. Mama Akpere.” She kept tapping, no response until she tried to move her..only for her to notice that her body was cold like ice.

She lifted her arm in shock, it dropped like there was no muscle in it.

She checked her breath, then it dawned on her, She was no more.

Fear gripped her. Akpere was asleep. She got confused.

She ran out of the ward to Richard's office.

That was the beginning of chaos in their hospital.

KINLAND HŌTĒL 🏠 10PM
ROOM 259

(Bella was already at the hotel, sitting comfortably on the bed in room 259 with her short sleeveless red gown exposing her cleavages. Her face glammed up with makeup to impress Richard. She ordered for two glass of juice while she waited for him)

Bella:(adjusting her gown properly to catch his first glance) He definitely will not resist this pretty angel looking all segzy! (She muttered softly, grinning from ear to ear as she sipped from her glass of juice.

She waited for about an hour, yet Richard didn't show up.

She picked her phone, checked the time and it clocked 11:35, her mood changed.

“Hmm, am I to wept too like Jesus did in the Bible? This time is exactly where it was quoted by John that Jesus wept. What could have held him till now? But he texted me to come”.

She pestered around the room, just then her phone buzzed… it was Richard calling.

📞 Come to the hospital immediately.. there's an emergency (he said, panting over the phone)

Bella got agitated – her plan had been ruined.

She rushed to the hospital to know the emergency that cut her long awaited enjoyment short.

AT RICHARD'S HOSPITAL 🏥

(Akpere was being rushed into the theater room by the nurses and Richard himself. She was sh0t by unknown men at night when she was returning home from an errand she was sent by her mother)

Richard: (sweating profusely) prepare the necessary equipments needed for this operation, immediately.

Bella: (rolling her eyes in disgust) Alright Doctor.

She and her assistant nurse prepared the necessary tools needed and made into the operation room.

Osaro kept parading at the entrance of the theater room, tying and re-tying her wrapper in tears. Ejiro on the other hand stood there staring like she was going to beat someone in the hospital.

Ejiro:(Angry) Mama you need to calm down o….I don't understand why you're acting up as if it's something serious. The doctors are working, she'll be fine. Besides when I was rushed here, did you act this concerned?

Osaro:(gave her a stern look that sends a warning signal to her) I don't blame you. I blame the dēv!l working inside of you. (She continued crying and praying Akpere survived)

Ejiro walked out of the hospital angrily, leaving her mother alone there.

Just then the theater door opens up and Richard came out, his eyes red and face not bright.

“Doctor, please how is my daughter? Please…” Osaro asked, her voice breaking.

Richard kept staring at her without a word. He was only trying to calm her down by patting her shoulder.

“Say something now doctor”. She said again, tying her wrapper tightly to her chest.

Richard tried to speak, but tears betrayed his voice. He couldn't speak.

“Nooooooo!!!!!! No!!!!!! It's a lie! Don't tell me it's true. No no no…Akpere cannot…noooooo!!!!!!” Osaro screamed, wailing, throwing herself to the ground and rolling non-stop.

The hospital workers tried to calm her down, but she wouldn't stop.

Richard held unto her tightly, he couldn't control his tears.

He managed to take her to his office after many plea.

“Mama, you need to calm down please”. Richard began, his voice soft.

“How will I calm down when my daughter is lying there lifeless?”.

“Mama, Akpere is not dæd. I never said so.”

Osaro’s face brightened a bit. She wiped her tears immediately she heard that.

“Really?” She asked with a mixture of tears and smile.

“Yes mama.. she is not, and she won't. We succeeded in removing the bull£t from her chest. Thank God they hit the wrong spot.” Richard explained.

“So why were you mute when I asked you how she is?” Osaro asked, furrowing her brows

“Well, the incident affected her brain, I'm afraid she may not remember a lot of things..not even her name.” Richard said, bending his head to hide his teary eyes. He was broken

(They were still discussing when Ejiro walked in)

Ejiro: Hey handsome (smiling sheepishly)

Richard: (scoffed) Mama, I'll be in Akpere's ward. Please excuse me. (He walked out of his office)

Osaro: (Shaking her head in dismay) sometimes you disgust me! (She pushed him out of the way and followed Richard to Akpere's ward.

Ejiro rolled her eyes in disgust and hissed heavily at her mother.

“I hope she dîees and then I'll see how she becomes your favorite again. Mād people” she muttered to herself and walked away.
