Someone asked why does fish/earthworm and Snails react vlo|ent|y when salt is poured on them.

The whole drama comes from one simple science principle:

OSMOSIS!

Basically when the water inside their bodies is forced out to balance a salty environment. Think of it as nature saying: “Water, shift!”

When you pour salt on these creatures, the outside becomes more concentrated than the inside. To balance things, water starts rushing out of their cells.

The Result?

Rapid dehydration, stress, and sharp reactions sometimes fatal.

Fish skin is covered with a delicate slime layer called "Slime Coat" that protects them and helps maintain their internal water balance. When salt hits that skin, it drags water out of their cells through osmosis.

The effect is sharp, painful, and stressful almost like pouring hot pepper on open wound.

Freshwater fish (like catfish) usually live in water that has less salt than their bodies. So their system is built to push water out gently. But when you suddenly add plenty salt: The outside becomes saltier than the fish itself... Water starts rushing out through the slime coat.

Their cells shrink like squeezed sponge. They go into shock that vlo|ent reaction you see is the body trying to survive

For SNAILS
Snails and salt no be friends at all. Their whole body is basically a bag of water covered with thin, moist skin. Once salt touches that skin, it dissolves their slime and instantly creates a super salty mix. Their body tries to fight back by releasing more mucus to dilute the salt, but the more they try, the more water they lose.

That “melting” effect you see when you add salt to snail is not magic... iit’s rapid dehydration. To a snail, salt is practically a d€æth sentence.
