On a day like this - when there was a night of continuous heavy downpour - you just know that NO AMOUNT OF PRAYERS ALONE will save many parts of Makurdi from being submerged in the resulting flooding. Even the provision of drains will not do. Only a well designed and properly implemented DRAINAGE SYSTEM and DEVELOPMENT CONTROL will save the city.
God gave Noah brain and time to build the ARK before he sent down the floods - we always have the dry season to do the needful, but we don't.
God gave us brains, so he will not have to come down and do what we can ordinarily do with our brains.
Again, tenants must begin to reject houses built with low or zero foundations in flood prone areas. Some landlords are embarrassingly only after money, building houses they will not wish to inhabit by themselves. But all these happen because of ZERO DEVELOPMENT CONTROL.
Heaven will not help us, because the same waters that flood our cities, also water the crops for the farmer.
Help yourselves,
Use your brains.
