PRESS RELEASE
EMPOWERING NIGER STATE GRADUATES THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP: A GROUNDBREAKING BDSP TRAINING INITIATIVE
In a landmark move to tackle unemployment and foster youth entrepreneurship, the Niger State Government, through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment Programme, has partnered with Pan-Atlantic University’s Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), with support from the Mastercard Foundation, to launch a first-of-its-kind Business Development Service Providers (BDSP) training valued at over 200+ for young and high performing graduates across the state.
The three-day training, which concluded yesterday, took place at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, NITDA ICT Hall, Minna. It offered participants drawn from the 25 LGAs across the state a deeply enriching experience in a highly conducive learning environment. In addition to well-structured sessions, participants were provided with quality breakfast, lunch, and an allowance, ensuring both comfort and focus throughout the programme.
Facilitators at the training have been commended for their professionalism, engaging delivery, and responsiveness. Their communication style and teaching methodology are widely regarded as top-notch, enabling participants to gain practical knowledge and skills essential for supporting businesses and developing sustainable enterprises.
The BDSP training equips attendees with the competencies required to provide advisory services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), facilitate business planning, and drive innovation key elements necessary for building a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem in Niger State.
Speaking on behalf of the Niger State First Class Graduates (NSFCG), Chairman Mukhtar Nasir expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Gov. Mohammed Umaru Bago, for partnering and initiating such a timely and impactful programme. “At a time when many of our graduates are eager to build relevant skills and contribute meaningfully to the economy, this initiative provides not just hope, but real tools for progress,” he said.
The NSFCG also extended sincere gratitude to the Special Adviser on Social Investment Programme, Her Excellency Hauwa Bako Kontagora, for her dedication to youth development and inclusive growth. “We pray for divine guidance and strength for her as she continues this important work,” Nasir added.
Recognizing the immense value of the training, the NSFCG has respectfully appealed to the state government to organize additional sessions. A number of our members, currently engaged with ICAN examinations or master’s thesis defenses, were unable to attend this round. Extending future opportunities to them will further enhance the impact of the programme across the state and improve service delivery to SMEs.
The BDSP training marks a bold step toward unlocking the potential of Niger State’s youth and creating an enabling environment where entrepreneurship can thrive.

Niger State First Class Graduates' Meets Commissioner for Tertiary Education.
Dear respected Nigerlites!
We are pleased to share with you some significant developments following a productive meeting held by the executive committee of the Niger State First Class Graduates. The meeting, which took place this morning at the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Honorable Abdullahi Adamu Mammagi, was attended by several distinguished individuals, including the Ministry's Permanent Secretary and the Executive Secretary of the Scholarship Board.
During the meeting, the Honorable Commissioner expressed his optimism about forthcoming opportunities, setting a positive tone for our discussions. While we are not addressing a letter to him directly, he provided valuable guidance on revising our list, emphasizing the need for a column to capture individual preferences, whether they are related to job placements or scholarships. We have committed to meet the deadline set by the Honorable Commissioner for the submission of the letter and the updated list, which is Monday.
Furthermore, we are thrilled to share some exciting news. Following a recent council meeting, the Governor has expressed his intention to reestablish a partnership between the Niger State Government and Oxford University, aimed at benefiting postgraduate students across the state. Additionally, negotiations are in progress to secure a remarkable 50% tuition fee reduction with an Indian University. The Honorable Commissioner has reassured us of his unwavering commitment to achieving great things during his tenure and has pledged to meet our expectations.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Honorable Commissioner and his dedicated team for their invaluable support and esteemed efforts. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them as we work towards our objectives.
We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and endeavors, and we appreciate your support as we strive to make positive contributions to the educational landscape in Niger State.
Sincerely,
Mukhtar Nasir
