Yesterday, Life At Best Development Initiative (LABDI), alongside other partners, commemorated the International Day of Education 2026 under the theme “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.”
The event was attended by the Education in Emergencies Working Group, the Borno State Ministry of Education, other government stakeholders, and students ranging from secondary schools to higher institutions.
As part of the activities, a Spelling Bee competition was held, with winners going home with prizes, marking an important stepping stone in boosting their confidence, academic excellence, and love for learning.
A strategic panel discussion was also held. The discussion focused on the theme and highlighted the importance of meaningful child and youth participation, emphasizing that decisions affecting children should be made with them, not for them. The session reinforced the need to involve young people in key decision-making processes that shape their education and future.
At the end of the event, participants expressed renewed commitment to supporting inclusive, youth-led educational initiatives that empower children and young people as active partners in shaping resilient and sustainable education systems.
