TOPIC: THE PRIMACY OF BRIDLED TONGUE

MEMORISE:
I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me." - (Psalm 39:1).

EXPOSITION:
The psalmist's declaration in Psalm 39 underscores the importance of guarding one's speech. This passage highlights the potential harm that can arise from unbridled speech and the power of the tongue to lead one into sin. Through deliberate restraint and discipline, the psalmist chooses silence in the face of the wicked. This emphasises the significance of thoughtful communication and avoidance of negative words.

The unruly nature of the tongue is a universal challenge, calling for self-EXPOSITION James 3:1-12 highlight the power and potential harm of the tongue, urging us to exercise restraint and discipline in our speech. Bridling the tongue signifies mature and wise control over one's whole body. Let us strive to use our tongues for uplifting others, by speaking words that edify others (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6). May we cultivate the language that reflects God's love and wisdom in our daily dealings in Jesus' name (Proverbs 16:24); and tell not a joke that brings damnation. Happy Tell a Joke Day.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Grant me the grace to use my tongue for the lifting of others, oh Lord.

2. May my tongue always be seasoned with salt, reflecting Your wisdom, oh Lord, in Jesus' name.

3. Help us to cultivate language that reflects Your love and wisdom in our interactions with others, oh God.
