Water isn’t a universal fire solution. It’s ineffective or even dangerous for electrical fires, grease fires, and some chemical fires.
Use the right extinguisher for the job!
During a fire, smoke is often more dangerous than the flames.
Hot, toxic smoke rises and fills the upper part of a room, while the air closer to the floor remains cooler and safer to breathe.
Standing upright exposes you to poisonous gases that can cause unconsciousness quickly, but staying low or crawling keeps you in cleaner air and increases your chances of escaping safely.
