Sowore Condemns Planned Deregistration Of ADC, Other Political Parties Ahead Of General Elections
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned reports of moves to deregister political parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and others that have already concluded their primaries and are preparing for the general elections.
Reacting to the development, Sowore described such a move as undemocratic and unjustifiable in a multiparty democracy, arguing that parties that have completed internal electoral processes should not be excluded from participating in elections.
According to him, democratic participation must remain open and competitive, warning that narrowing the political space weakens voters’ choices and undermines electoral credibility.
“I totally condemn the deregistration of political parties that have already concluded their primaries and are preparing for general elections. Such an action is undemocratic, and unjustifiable in a multiparty democracy. It shall not stand!” Sowore stated.
