Listening in Marriage Is More Than Hearing Words

When I was building Gramosolar as one of our family's business portfolio, it took me about four to seek weeks of intense work. I was spending less time at home, and naturally, I wasn’t as present as before.

I had already explained to my wife that I’d be very busy during that period, and she understood. But one day, she complained that the responsibilities at home were becoming too much for her.

Now, at that moment, I could have easily said:
“But I already told you I’d be busy, remember?”

Instead, I paused and really listened. She wasn't complaining because I didn't inform her ahead of my tight schedule, it was about her being overwhelmed. So, I repriotized what I was doing and started helping out again.

That experience taught me something: listening to your partner is not about defending yourself, it’s about understanding the weight of what they’re saying.
