ONE MILLION NAIRA EMPOWERMENT AND EBONYIANS.
Recently government of Ebonyi state under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon Nwifuru Francis announced that his government would empower 100 Ebonyians per Local government area of the state. I and many Ebonyians eulogized the administration for such magnanimity to his people.
However as my colleagues were optimistic that it would get to them, I wasn't; mine was that it would get to Ebonyians.
Within the week, there was testimonies that millions eventually got to Ebonyians. Those criticizing the people it eventually got to are in more positions to tell us what their expectations was but we shouldn't be in haste to forget what empowerment use to be before this administration; a situation Ebonyi adults and youth use to spend their money on transportation, photocopies, and would even be clothed is a cheap ankara and be subjected to false training at Ecuminical centre only for nobody to end up hearing anything about the empowerment, neither the candidates chosen nor any Ebonyian.
This time, empowerment was announced, no photocopies, no transportation, no false trainings and above all, the money eventually got to Ebonyians. The most important thing to me and the difference is that this money eventually got to Ebonyians. What's the population of your LGA and your significance that will make the government recognize, identify and chose you amidst others for their insensitive? That's the question you should ask yourself before complaining. Are the FON ward coordinators that got the empowerment not Ebonyians? Were they comfortable before the empowerment? Ebonyians shouldn't forget the 'obojieda' administration when Ebonyians were used to retire government money into same pockets.
I therefore congratulate the beneficiaries and Ebonyi government for living up to their words as I encourage the government to make the empowerment a continuous project till it gets to ordinary Ebonyians irrespective of political affiliation
