Cml Photography
Your camera doesn’t increase your value.
Your clarity does.
Brands don’t pay for megapixels.
They pay for meaning.
Photographer or visual storyteller — which one are you becoming?
Kindly share if this was insightful 🙏🏾
I don’t send rate cards.
And it has nothing to do with confidence.
It has everything to do with positioning.
The moment you send a rate card, the conversation shifts.
It stops being about value.
It becomes about price.
In this video, I shared how a client from the Netherlands reached out to me. Instead of sending a PDF with numbers, I asked questions. I listened. I understood the vision, the risks, the expectations.
When I finally sent the quote, it was above their initial budget.
Her response?
“We’re willing to upscale because of the value and clarity you brought.”
Same inquiry. Same message.
Other photographers replied with rate cards.
Price compares.
Value convinces.
If you’re still leading with your rate card, you might be negotiating against yourself.
I’m starting a series where I share my thoughts as a visual artist.
People often ask what makes my images work —
Is it the lighting? The angles? The camera? The model?
And yes, those things matter.
But for me, it always starts with connection.
Creating a safe space where my subject feels comfortable enough to be themselves — that’s the real foundation. Once that connection is there, everything else flows naturally. The lighting, the composition, the decisions… they all fall into place.
This series is for anyone who doesn’t want to be seen as just a photographer, but as someone who understands people first — and cameras second.
