“Most African men in the past were not determined to become responsible. It’s understandable because many didn’t have examples of what a father and husband should be. Some lost their fathers too early, while others had fathers who weren’t good role models. I am not ashamed to say that my father wasn’t a good example of what a father or husband should be. He failed badly. The same free will and opportunities that I had were also available to my father, but he chose to be irresponsible, and he became what he chose to be. I had every excuse to become like him or even worse. But I refused. Instead, I was determined to be successful and responsible. Every day, I am grateful that my children have a loving and responsible father and mother. With so many wonderful and amazing family members celebrating and rooting for their success. My children have a better life than I did when I was a child. By making good choices and with God’s help, I changed everything for them, and the example I have set will be the one they follow. They won’t have any excuses—I have set a higher standard.”
