Lassa Fever Outbreak Claims 146 Lives in Nigeria in 11 Weeks, 25 Doctors Infected

Nigeria is facing a serious Lassa fever outbreak that has claimed lives across the country, including those of frontline health workers. Doctors treating patients have been infected, and some have died while caring for others.
Report have it that the outbreak has killed 146 people in Nigeria over the past 11 weeks, with health workers among the casualties.

Barr Sam Nwakohu, a former Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has died at age 70.
Sources close to his family told JournalNG that the lawyer died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at a Lagos hospital after battling with an ailment.
Nwakohu who was CRFFN's CEO between early 2019 and February 2023 re-organised the council and set it on the path professionalism , accountability and self sustainability.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar has reiterated that the country is at the risk of losing its airspace surveillance service due to the obsolete state of the Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria (TRACON) equipment because of the difficulties in getting spare parts as the technology is outdated.
Engr. Farouk explained that the life span of such important high-tech equipment is usually ten years but said since 2014 the TRACON equipment began to go out of fashion as countries around the world began to migrate to more sophisticated and advanced technology.
