President Bola Tinubu has approved presidential pardons for 175 persons following recommendations by the Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.

Among the beneficiaries are nationalist Herbert Macaulay and former FCT Minister Maj-Gen. Mamman Vatsa (retd).

The decision, ratified by the National Council of State, also saw 65 inmates receive sentence reductions and seven death sentences commuted to life imprisonment, part of ongoing efforts toward justice reform and national reconciliation.
