The Lord Jesus Christ, storyteller extraordinaire that he is, told many stories faithfully recorded in the Bible. One of them is known as the parable of the unjust steward in the sixteenth chapter of the book of Luke.
It is the story of a manager, who, caught with his hand in the till, was penned down for dismissal by the boss. He got wind of what was about to befall him, and he took steps to mitigate the effect of his looming joblessness, and loss of income.

There are many messages in the thirteen-verse parable, but one is particularly relevant here. The Bible reported in verse 8 thus: ‘So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.’

To be sure, Christ the Righteous was not endorsing the crookedness of the steward. But Jesus couldn’t but notice that the man had mastered the ways of the evil kingdom that he belonged to. And he wondered aloud: ‘how I wish my own brothers and sisters, citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven are this knowledgeable in the righteous system of their Father!’

It is that lack of mastery (by most of us) of how God’s Kingdom of sons, functions that this handy book seeks to contribute its little quota to addressing.
