The festival took a deep dive into the heart of our coastal heritage today as Mbo LGA took center stage. Mbo is more than just a local government; it is a gateway to the Atlantic, a land of serenity, and a true haven for any tourist seeking the soul of the sea.

As a coastal people, the Mbo delegation arrived with a breathtaking bounty of the deep. Their exhibition was a seafood lover's paradise, featuring an array of Isobo (crab), nkọnkọ, fresh fish, and premium smoked fish—the kind of quality that only the pristine waters of the Mbo coastline can provide.

For many of us, Mbo—and specifically the famous Ibaka—holds a special place in our hearts. I still remember my first visit to Ibaka in 1998; waking up to the cool morning air and heading to the beach to watch the magnificent sight of fishermen and divers returning from the deep sea. It was a flurry of life—big boats and ships anchoring while market men and women waited eagerly. The shore would come alive with trade, while children played and swam in the surf. That is the spirit of Mbo: a place of peace, productivity, and overwhelming generosity. I remember leaving Ibaka back then with enough fish to last my kitchen for months!

Today at the Christmas Village, that same spirit of hospitality and abundance was on full display. Mbo remains a very beautiful and peaceful place to be—a vital part of the Akwa Ibom story and a premier destination for anyone looking to experience the true riches of our state.
