❇PROTECT YOUR SKIN THIS SEASON
▶️ Our skin is the largest organ in our body. It is made up of two layers, the EPIDERMIS and DERMIS. The Epidermis is the upper dead layer that contains cells that produce melanin, which gives our skin its color.
▶️ The functions of the skin are; Protection, Sensation, Heat regulation, Control of evaporation, Aesthetics and communication, Storage and synthesis, Excretion, Absorption, and Water resistance.
✅ HERE HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN THIS SEASON
1. STAY HYDRATED: Drinking water frequently during the period cannot be over-emphasised the weather is so hot, coupled with the dry and dusted wind. Aim for about 2-3 litres a day.
Keepin mind that, staying hydrated does not include Caffeine intake, because it is a diuretic and diuretics eliminate fluid out of the body, so you may need to cut back on the coffee this period. Also eat lots of fruits and vegetables to keep your skin glowing.
2. MOISTURIZE: Remember to move around with lip balms to avoid having a cracked lips.
Go for moisturizing creams and soaps to keep your skin and face especially moisturized during this season. We know how fast water dries off surfaces during this season. Hence it is more advisable to moisturize right in the bathroom while your body is still moist because a few steps out of the bathroom door dries you up completely.
This method will help your skin lock in moisture. [ The ALOE MOISTURIZING LOTION AND ALOE LIP BALM are very good]
3. EXFOLIATE: This will help shave off dead and dry skin cells and allow new skin cells to come up.
Use a gentle body scrub twice a week.
However, avoid over exfoliation will make the skin oils be depleted and dryness of the skin will recur.
[ I WILL RECOMMEND ALOE SCRUB, SO GENTLE ON THE FACE AND BODY, SUITABLE EVEN FOR DRY SKIN].
4. BATHE WITH LUKEWARM WATER: Yes, we know that the mornings are really cold and having a shower with cold water isn’t an option; however, hot water isn’t also an advisable option for you as it strips the skin of its natural oil barrier, thus resulting in dryness and itching. Hence, opt for lukewarm water.
Skin care experts recommend short, warm showers or baths that last no longer than 5 to 10 minutes.
5. EAT HEALTHY FATS: Not all types of fat are bad for you. There are healthy fats you can consume without the fear of excess cholesterol and also can be heart-healthy. Healthy fats give you energy. You can get healthy fat from polyunsaturated fats such as in nuts, seeds, vegetable oils such as corn and safflower oil, and fatty fish. Avocados are also a great source of healthy fats.
[ You can also take ARCTIC SEA SUPER OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS]
6. SUNSCREEN: Using sunscreen during the warm weather is as important as using sunscreen during harmattan. The weather might not seem hot but UV light is still as strong and as damaging. Sunscreen with SPF 30 is your best option. [ FOREVER ALOE SUNSCREEN]
7. CLOTHING: Whilst layering with clothes is important, it is much more important to layer appropriately. Don’t wear fabrics like wool next to your skin; this could irritate the skin and result in unpleasant skin reaction. Instead wear natural fibre such as cotton and silk because they allow the skin to breathe.
8. AIR CONDITIONING: Replace air conditioning with humidifier and fan, this will add moisture to your space. ACs on the other hand will leave your air dry and lead to your skin cracking.

We ALL go through things.
Everyone you know has been through a storm, currently going through a storm, or is about to.
YOU'RE NOT ALONE! 💯❤️
Sometimes life doesn't seem fair.
Sometimes people will do you wrong.
Sometimes it's hard to see brighter days.
It's easy to sit and dwell on the past, hold grudges, and spend time there.
If you can relate, it might be time to turn your troubles and excuses into MOTIVATION!
I saw a quote similar to this 👇 and need to share my thoughts in hopes that someone else needs to hear.
Your bad chapter doesn't have to be the end of your story. But remember. it's up to YOU to make the next chapter better.

🌺HEALTH TRUTH THURSDAY👨👩👧👧
💥Know Your Family Health History, Minimize Your Risk of Certain Health Conditions
➡️ Family is indeed a health-support system. The various functions of the family; reproduction, production, nutrition, education, etc. Open the door to health activities that, in turn, improve the well-being of family members.
👉Your family health history is important to your health!
✔️Families can share many things that can increase your risk of getting a health condition, including:
📍Genes
📍Lifestyle habits (for example, poor diet, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol consumption, and smoking).
🔸Many health conditions develop due to a combination of factors including lifestyle choices and environmental factors, such as sun exposure. This means that in most cases family history alone is not enough to cause a condition to develop.
🎯Knowing that some conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some cancers tend to ‘run in the family’ can be a sign you are at increased risk.
✅If you know of these conditions you should let your doctor know so that they can help you identify things you can do to reduce your chance of also developing the condition.*
👉You can’t change your genes, but if you are aware of your family’s health history, you can reduce your risk of getting some conditions by:
✔️Making healthy lifestyle changes
✔️Having regular check-ups and getting healthcare advice from your doctor.
💠Health Conditions That Run in Families
Common health conditions that you may find within your family’s health history include:
🚩Asthma
🚩Birth defects (for example, spina bifida or a cleft lip)
🚩Cancer (including breast, ovarian, prostate, bowel/colon, or melanoma skin cancer)
🚩Diabetes
🚩Genetic conditions, for example, cystic fibrosis or hemophilia
🚩Heart disease or sudden heart attack
🚩High blood pressure (hypertension) or high cholesterol
🚩Mental illness
🚩Osteoporosis
🚩More than 3 pregnancy losses to a couple or woman
stillbirths
🚩Stroke.
It is recommended that you are aware of your family health history.
A family health history can help identify if you are at higher risk for certain conditions because of your shared genes and behaviors.
If you can identify family health patterns early, then together with your doctor you can take steps to reduce your risk or get early treatment.
📌If you are at higher risk, your doctor can suggest lifestyle changes that may slow or stop the development of many conditions.
The best way to build your family health history is to talk to relatives about their health information.
You can then pass this knowledge on to your relatives and children to help them plan for their future health.
While there may be a high incidence of a certain condition in your family it does not mean that you will develop that condition.
