Let's use Nigeria as a case study

Twelve of 36 states officially enforce Shariah, yet these states remain among the poorest, least educated, and most underdeveloped. Women and children suffer abuse, blasphemy accusations can cost lives, dissent is silenced, and intolerance toward non‑Muslims is commonplace.
The most visible growth is not in science, industry, technology, or world‑class education.
It’s more mosques.
More Quranic schools.
More Arabic schools.
Meanwhile, countless children roam the streets, begging for food.
How can a society claim to be governed by God’s law while children sleep hungry on the roadside?
That is the contradiction.
A society of Muslims.
A state ruled by Shariah.
Yet one that misses the very values Islam promotes: justice, mercy, dignity, accountability, and knowledge.
Political Shariah has failed.

It’s striking how many non-Muslims truly believe Muslims can’t live peacefully among them — that Muslims are a threat to their safety, their neighborhoods, even their very existence.
Before expecting anger from Muslims, pause and ask why that fear takes root.
When some Muslims openly justify violence, praise extremists, threaten critics, impose religion on others, and then claim “this is Islam,” what reaction should non-Muslims be expected to have?
You can’t let the loudest, most dangerous voices speak for Islam for years and then act surprised when people grow afraid.
The greatest harm to Islam today isn’t coming from outsiders — it’s coming from those within who turn the faith into a symbol of fear instead of a message of peace.
