Our latest study shows how information pollution is wreaking havoc in Cรดte DโIvoire, Benin, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon. In these countries, ethnic tensions and gender inequalities are being dangerously fanned by the flood of false content.
Titled Africa Facing Down Disinformation, the expert-based research commissioned by PIN with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and released at the 2026 Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF26) assesses various countermeasures to disinformation, noting that state measures such as internet shutdowns and mass surveillance are not compliant with international human rights standards.
