Office Assistant Responsibilities:
Handling incoming calls and other communications.
Managing filing system.
Recording information as needed.
Greeting clients and visitors as needed.
Updating paperwork, maintaining documents and word processing.
Helping organize and maintain office common areas.
Performing general office clerk duties and errands.
Organizing travel by booking accommodations and reservations needs as required.
Coordinating events as necessary.
Maintaining supply inventory.
Maintaining office equipment as needed.
Aiding with client reception as needed.
Experience as a virtual assistant.
Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases.
Requirements and Skills
Office assistant positions can be found in all industries, and share a rather large set of skills. Office assistants are sometimes known as secretaries or administrative assistants, but what they do is assist in the functioning of an office. Whether the office belongs to a law firm, a medical practice, an educational institution, or a corporation, the needs are similar; somebody has to file records, maintain schedules, and take care of routine communication on behalf of the people who use the office.
