Bruno Fernandes wins FWA Footballer of the Year award
Man United captain Bruno Fernandes has won the Football Writers Association's Footballer of the Year award.
The Portugal international took 45 per cent of the vote, with over 900 journalists taking part. He left behind Arsenal star Declan Rice, who finished 28 points behind, and Man City's Erling Haaland.

Bruno is one step away from a historic season, having registered 19 assists in the Premier League.

He needs one more assist to match the record set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, and another to surpass it.

Manchester United are expected to offer Michael Carrick the chance to continue as head coach on a permanent basis after guiding the club into next season's UEFA Champions League.
According to The Guardian, Carrick has not yet held formal talks over turning his interim spell into a long-term role, as the club's hierarchy had initially planned to wait and assess whether he could secure qualification for Europe's top competition.
