The external environmental forces control and determine how the internal business environment would structure itself in terms of their talents, policy crafting, positioning, working dynamics, financing and so on.
Recent developments and environmental indicators show that the 'VUCA' world just got more VUCARISED. (Please, excuse my french, lol) This terminology is the only way in my head right now to describe the enormity of what businesses would have to deal with in the present reality of things.
How are businesses coping in these times? The CBN just raised its interest rate to 17.5%. Wow, that's huge, right?
In this era of increased mental health challenges, the percentage of employees who would fall into this category got increased by a 100%. The economic situation and constant fluctuations of market forces doesn't help and most individuals are left in a perpetual state of hopelessness and fear.
For business owners who want to remain afloat amidst all the turbulence, improving their employee value proposition is critical to their business survival.
Leaders of people-centric organisations know that to be successful as a business, the employees need to be wholesomely engaged and treated fairly.
We all need each other at this time - employer and employee. Your CEO is facing a number of challenges to keep the business afloat. This is the time to also lend support to keep everyone in employment. I am laying this charge on Line management staff to start leading from the bottom by being strategic, empathetic and taking ownership of their respective spaces to support the organisation to, at the very minimum, remain afloat even amidst the VUCA environment.
How are you keeping your organisation functioning in these times?
Would like to know. You may be helping someone.....

Hey , let's do this together...
The critical part of the job requirement was for the job holder to have knowledge of and experienced in the use of a talent management software. This was the most important aspect of being considered for the job...
If you have interviewed people to fill vacant roles in your organisation, then, this is for you. Would love to pick your brain on how you prefer responses to be delivered to certain questions especially when it has to do with a critical competency needed for the job.
The fact that a very skilled candidate who ticks all the boxes of the job competency requirements, but does not have experience in one important skill set may not necessarily mean that they may not be considered. Do you agree?
In my opinion and from experience, I believe the manner in which the candidate responds to the question is critical and would be a determining factor to being considered for employment especially if they tick all other required skill sets.
What do you think or how do you handle this in recruitment?
