Please, let’s talk about this tomato we are seeing everywhere.
This is rotten tomato being openly displayed for sale, and sadly, many of us still buy it or eat it without knowing. I know things are hard, prices are high, and everyone is trying to manage, but our health should not be part of what we manage away.
The painful truth is that almost all these roadside restaurants, mama put joints, and even some “fast food” places use this kind of tomato. They remove the visibly bad part, wash it, blend it with pepper, and cook. All in the name of cutting cost. So if you’re the type that eats outside regularly, just know that there’s a high chance you’re eating something like this, whether you like it or not.
What we don’t realize is that once tomato starts to rot, it is no longer safe, even if it is cooked. Rotten tomatoes can carry harmful bacteria and fungi that may cause food poisoning, stomach upset, diarrhea, vomiting, and in the long run can affect the liver and weaken the immune system. Some of the toxins produced by spoiled tomatoes are not destroyed by heat.
Yes, hunger is real. Yes, money is tight. But hospital bills are tighter.
