A lot of businesses today plan to run without inputting marketing as part of their fundamental business activities.
we discovered that the major reason for this is because they don't want to spend money on marketing.
They are hoping that sales can continue upward without marketing!
Well, I have this news for you..
Any company that does not market effectively will fold up.
The truth is many have already folded up because they ran with this ideology.
The number one factor that determines the survival of your business is customers;
to butteress further;
only the continuous inflow and retention of customers can ensure the survival of your business
so why is marketing your business very important :
1. it makes customers aware of your products or services
2. Engages them, and helps them make the buying decision.
3. it makes customers choose you whenever they have a need that your product category can solve
So how can we make this work?
in order to understand the importance of marketing, we need to first understand what marketing is.
What is Marketing?
Marketing covers a whole lot of things that has been defined and redefined over the years,
however, this has been consistent -
Marketing is identifying consumer needs and designing a system to meeting those needs
The question now is ...
why do businesses neglect marketing if it is that simple and straight forward?
while the answer may seem simple, a number of factors are responsible for neglecting marketing
1. satisfaction with the initial marketing that has been carried out -
2. The hope to spend zero amount on marketing and still get results
3. lack of understanding of marketing
4. Trying to maximize profit via short cuts
no product goes into the market place without some form of marketing which includes research and testing.
most businesses feel that initial marketing is enough for the business and once they have been able to create a product, it must sell itself.
however, nothing can be further from the truth.
that initial marketing helps to start the business by clarifying that there is a need and how possibly great that need is but it is strong enough to compel the prospects to buy or stay with the business.
for instance,
everyone wears clothes but there are boutiques closing down
everyone eats but there are restaurants closing shop
a number of ladies make their hair but there are salons that close down
This clearly shows that businesses can produce products people want and still close shop.
without marketing effectively, a business is positioned and guaranteed to fail
So how do you market effectively?

If you have a good idea and during the testing phase, it did very well but once you started executing, it just wouldn't work...
Try changing location and everything may just start succeeding massively from there.
You may now need to change the delivery strategy but the core concept remains untouched.
The reason for this is because people act differently in different locations.
The same set of people that will not possible buy your TEA IDEA around their locality may accept it around their work environment.
It may be work or peer pressure pressure, the exquisite decor of their work environment or something,
People tend to act differently sometimes in particular environments.
So if your idea is good but not working, Try changing location.

A number of them were doing music abroad and same Nigerians didn't patronize them
But immediately they came to Nigeria and changed their delivery strategy, Everything changed.
They became instant success.
Sometimes, it's just location
Do you have to start your IDEA BIG?
Most great ideas started small because most times the concept creator is probably the biggest believer of the idea
But this has it's advantages
1. Nobody is noticing you, so you can grow without competition..this happened to Facebook. Other media platforms didn't expect it to explode like that. If they knew, they woul have worked to crush it.
So you don't have to start big, you have to start STRONG!
