Why defend your principal when crisis is going on in Benue State?
This is a question many people should reflect on.
At a time when lives are being lost, communities are living in fear, and families are crying for help, should the focus be on defending political principals or on defending the people?
This is the time leadership should speak with action, not excuses.
But sadly, in moments of crisis, some choose to spend more energy protecting the image of their political leaders than confronting the real problems on the ground.
Why?
Why make politics more important than human lives?
Why defend power while the people suffer?
A true leader is not afraid of criticism, especially in difficult times.
Because criticism in times of crisis is not hatred — it is often a call for responsibility.
When people are hurting, they need solutions.
Not propaganda.
Not blind loyalty.
Not endless defense of failure.
The painful part is that this kind of politics shifts attention away from the urgent needs of the people.
Instead of talking about security, relief, and peace, the conversation becomes about protecting reputations.
But what is the value of a reputation when the people are in pain?
Benue needs healing.
Benue needs action.
Benue needs leaders and followers who put the people first before politics.
Because at the end of the day, no political principal is greater than the lives of the people.
And in times of crisis, loyalty should be to truth, justice, and humanity first.
