Cape Town-based VC firm HAVAÍC has raised $25M out of a targeted $50M for its African Innovation Fund 3, with Sanlam Multi-Manager coming in as a major investor—marking Sanlam’s first serious entry into South Africa’s venture capital space. The fund focuses on early-stage African tech startups with cross-border potential in fintech, agritech, and digital infrastructure.

HAVAÍC has already deployed capital into startups like SAPay, Sportable, NjiaPay, and SwiftVEE. The firm recently celebrated two major exits: RapidDeploy was acquired by Motorola Solutions in one of SA’s biggest tech acquisitions, while hearX Group merged with US-listed Eargo in a $100M deal.
With a portfolio touching 22M customers across 183 countries, HAVAÍC is showing that African startups are going global. This raise signals growing institutional confidence in African innovation and maturing VC players who are backing startups with serious upside.
