SHOULD YOU PAY FOR FOOD ON YOUR FIRST DATE?

First dates are usually important in the process of relationship building. Now, first date here isn't the description of what you may know it as (date you go after you start dating), No. First date in this post means the first meeting you have with the opposite gender you intend to start dating. So, you are still at the talking stage and you both meet to see eachother face-to-face and talk. After all, nothing beats face-to-face.

In Africa, it is tradition for a man who is on the date with a woman, to pay for whatever is eaten by himself and the lady during the date. We all know that as Africans. So ladies, you have nothing to fear when going on a first date with that guy. However, you should STOP the habit of always seeing it as an opportunity to overfeed yourself.

Basira, a guy that is still talking to you and you are still thinking whether to accept or not asked you out for a date, and you went there to eat rice + chicken + turkey + amala and gbegiri + wine + smallchops, all in one stomach. You still ordered for takeaway again haaaaa 😲.

Sassy Matilda, you went on a date with four of your friends and they all fed themselves to the brim and ordered take home. You are sassy but not in behaviour. Because if you were sassy in behaviour, you would have known that it is wrong. STOP ABUSING THE PROCESS.

Anyway, to preserve your dignity as a lady, and to protect your pocket as a man, it is best that when you go on a date with someone you are still at the talking stage with, both of you should separately order whatever you want and pay for what you eat. That way, as a lady you are able to show that you can take care of your self, your basic needs such as food, thereby maintaining your value and self-worth, The guy cannot ask you to come over after eating. And as a guy, it helps you spend within your means and destroys the intention that once you eat, you must go home together.
