7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

9 For so was it charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel.

11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

Lesson Introduction. Cancerous cell is a deadly cell that grows in the

absence of signals telling them to grow, in our world today a lot of cancerous cells are living with us - divisions, negative influence, ungirded freedom, social media, and neglect from parents in the area of their children's welfare, all these are bane to societal values.



CAUSES OF CANCEROUS CELL

In our last week's lesson, cancerous cell was defined as a cell that alters genetic system. Believers are known for life of holiness, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:15, 16, in this outline we want to examine causes of cancerous cell;

1. Heretical teachings: teachings of one's own view, incompatible with the gospel of Christ. It is a teaching that departs from accepted beliefs or divine standard.

2. Social Media: Some information on social media unverified contents unverified, polluted and inimical to lives. It causes distraction, loss of productivity, promotes social isolation, exposure to ungodly contents, picking of polluted information.

3. Peer Pressure: This brings influence by others to act in a certain way and this come because of desire to be accepted by their peer.

4. Bad Mentorship: Poor communication and lack of experience from the side of mentor can be cancerous.

5. Unguarded Freedom especially from Parents: When freedom is not guarded, the person is vulnerable to attack, lacking protection possessed.

But there is one thing that is needful which is SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT IS Developing one's Spirit means

1. Becoming spiritually conscious and be rooted in Christ

2. Never entertain distractions and laxity

3. Daily renewal of mind, growing in grace.

4. Prospering in His will

5. Enduring all storms as the soldiers of Christ.

1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

[5] I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.



Prophecy is a spiritual gift and ministry through which God communicates His mind and will to His people. It can come in diverse forms to meet the specific needs of individuals and the church. Prophecy is a vital aspect of Christian living that enables believers to receive guidance, encouragement, and edification.

Prophecy is the act of speaking God’s words under divine inspiration (Job 32:8📖). It serves as a channel through which God’s truth, plans, and purposes are revealed (Numbers 12:6📒). Prophecy is not rooted in human imagination but in God’s authority and wisdom (1 Corinthians 14:3📘). In Ezekiel 37:1-14📘, the prophet was instructed by God to speak life to dry bones, demonstrating the transformative power of prophecy. Prophecy is inspired by God and directed toward His purposes (2 Peter 1:21📖). Revelation 19:10 📕highlights that “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy,” indicating that prophecy ultimately points to Christ and His will.

Prophecy manifests in different forms, depending on God’s intention for the message. For instance:

Foretelling: Predicting future events as revealed by God. Examples include prophecies about the Messiah and end-time events (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 24📗).

Forthtelling: Comforting a specific audience through the written word of God (Nehemiah 8:8-10📔). Addressing a current situation and proffering solution (2 Kings 4:1-7; 2 Kings 6:25; 7:1📙). Forthtelling can also serve as a correction.

Discernment: Providing insight into hidden truths or circumstances, often to bring clarity (2 Kings 5:20-26; Acts 16:16-19📚).

Believers should note that not all prophecies are from God, which makes it vital to evaluate every prophetic word with Scriptures and godly principles (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21; Deuteronomy 18:20-22📒).



Prophecy serves several key purposes that help to strengthen the church and contribute to its growth:

a. Edification: Prophecy builds up the body of Christ, fostering spiritual growth and unity (1 Corinthians 14:4📖).

b. Exhortation: Prophecy encourages and challenges believers, motivating them to stay faithful and pursue righteousness (Isaiah 40:2📘).

c. Comfort: Prophecy provides reassurance and peace in times of distress, reminding believers of God’s faithfulness and love (1 Kings 17:13-16📕).

d. Guidance: Through prophecy, God offers direction and wisdom for decision-making, helping His people align with His will (2 Kings 6:8-12📔).
