Local Stakeholder Public Consultation – ecoWise Distributed Solar Voluntary Project Activities (VPAs) in Nigeria
Nigeria’s distributed solar sector is at a turning point. The barrier is not technology or demand, but access to credible, scalable climate finance. Africa faces a $12.5 billion annual electricity access financing gap, and one of the biggest obstacles has been the high cost and complexity of carbon credit verification.
The proposed ecoWise Distributed Solar VPAs, led by Vectar Energy Limited, are designed to address this challenge by enabling distributed solar projects across Nigeria to generate high integrity carbon credits through advanced digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification infrastructure.
This consultation will present the proposed ecoWise VPAs and gather stakeholder feedback on:
- Programme design and eligibility criteria
- Monitoring and verification framework
- Environmental and social safeguards
- Developer participation requirements
The sessions will explore how the programme can strengthen project economics, unlock climate finance, and accelerate Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
