The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Kano State Polytechnic Chapter, has elected new executive members to lead the union for the next two years.

Several key positions were filled during the exercise to ensure smooth administration and enhanced member representation.

Dr. Badamasi Inuwa from the Life Science Department, School of Technology, emerged as the new Chairman. Running unopposed, he secured a strong 197 votes of affirmation. This overwhelming support reflects members' confidence in his experience, leadership style, and commitment to advancing the union's interests.

The remaining eight positions were also filled unopposed: Idris Sani Salisu (Danzara) as Vice Chairman; Babangida Sa’adu as General Secretary; Aliyu Shiu Sa’id as Financial Secretary; Magaji Babayo as Treasurer; Engr. Haruna Hussaini as Internal Auditor; Dauda Yusuf Tofa as Assistant General Secretary; Sama’ila Bashir as Welfare Secretary; and Saude Sa’idu as Publicity Secretary.

During the inauguration ceremony, ASUP Zonal Coordinator "Zone A", Comrade Muhammed Muhammed, congratulated the newly elected officers. He urged them to uphold the union’s principles and values, and to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in them by the congress.

He described the election as unique, noting it was the first time he had witnessed such an exemplary process of ASUP election.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Badamasi Inuwa expressed profound gratitude for members' trust and support. He pledged to prioritize staff welfare and academic conditions, while strengthening the union for the benefit of staff, students, and the KSP community.

Dr. Inuwa commended the Electoral Committee for their dedication in maintaining stability and decorum throughout the process.

In his remarks after the election, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Awaisu Adamu Salihi, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and the members for their support in helping them conduct a peaceful and transparent election, which demonstrates the unity and maturity of the ASUP KSP family.

He stressed that the committee remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity for the progress of the union and institution at large.
