ACTIVITY REPORT: FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION AND ENROLLEE SENSITIZATION IN ROGO LGA

On June 8, 2026, the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) successfully conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and public sensitization campaign in Rogo Local Government Area (LGA).
The primary purpose of this mission was to evaluate the delivery of primary healthcare services under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF). The activity specifically targeted registered enrollees to assess their experiences, monitor healthcare delivery standards, and create robust awareness regarding their health benefit packages.
This key field activity was developed under the umbrella of the SCURE Project, which is funded and overseen by KSCHMA under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar.

3. Key Objectives
Gather direct user feedback through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to assess real-time access and facility performance.
Educate and sensitize BHCPF enrollees regarding the Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMPHS) they are legally entitled to receive.
Bridge operational gaps between primary health facilities and the vulnerable community members enrolled in the scheme.
Identify systemic challenges regarding drug supply chains, facility sanitation, and medical record-keeping.

Focus Group Discussions (FGDs)
Structured discussions were organized with diverse groups of enrollees, including women, the elderly, and vulnerable community members.
The teams tracked key indicators: healthcare worker attitude, service waiting times, availability of essential drugs, and referral protocols.
Enrollees actively graded their experiences at designated primary health centers (PHCs) within the local government area.
Sensitization and Awareness Drive
Field teams held an interactive town hall session to clarify enrollment rights and debunk misconceptions regarding payment for services.
The team thoroughly explained the benefit packages, reinforcing that primary care services are fully prepaid by government equity funds.
Beneficiaries were trained on how to use feedback channels and reporting systems if they are denied care or hit with unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

Expand Digital Tools: Roll out broader digital verification monitoring methods in Rogo LGA to streamline patient check-ins and eliminate administrative verification delays.
