ARE YOU A CHILD OF GOD

John 1:12-13
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

When the question is asked, are you a child of God, you hear great response like, who is a child of the devil, we all are children of God etc. Hmm what an irony!

Many failed to understand that being Gods creature is different from being a child of God. Yes God is our creator and we are His creation, which is quite different from being His child. The truth is that, being Gods creature is never a guarantee to be His child.

The text above says As Many As Receive HIM underline the word "Receive Him"

Meaning for one to become a child of God you must receive Jesus His Son as your Lord and Saviour, then will the power to become His child be handed over to you. In other words just as the next verse says “Which Were Born” meaning you can’t be His child unless you are born again. John 3:3....Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Your life needs to be cleansed and purified from sins by the blood of Jesus, then a new heart and a new spirit will be given to you.

Ezekiel 36:25-27
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

By this, the grace not to sin will be handed over to you as you receive the power to become His child. "For whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9. Therefore, when proclaiming that you are a child of God and you continue sinning, you need to rethink, and ask yourself, am I a child of God or God's creature? Because those who are children of God do not continue to sin, for God's very nature is in them; and because God is their Father, they cannot continue to sin. Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil, and not a child of God.
