Nigeria’s former President, the late Major General Muhammadu Buhari, governed the country without regional bias, insisting that he treated every state and region fairly rather than favouring the North, as was widely perceived by some.

Speaking at Buhari’s first year remembrance, former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon said:

“He took care of all the people in the country. His time in office was devoted to serving all Nigerians, not just the North.”
