🌱 Restoring Our Land, Securing Our Future

Today, on the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, Bridge That Gap Initiative joins the global call to protect and restore our rangelands under the theme:

Rangelands: Recognize. Respect. Restore.

Healthy rangelands are more than landscapes—they sustain livelihoods, support biodiversity, strengthen food security, and build resilience against climate change. Yet, unsustainable practices such as bush burning, indiscriminate tree felling, and land degradation continue to threaten these vital ecosystems.

The good news? We can all be part of the solution.

🌳 Plant and nurture trees
🔥 Say no to bush burning
🌿 Protect our forests and natural vegetation
🤝 Support community-led environmental conservation efforts

Every action counts. Together, we can restore degraded lands, protect our environment, and create a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.

Our Rangelands. Our Responsibility. Our Future.

💧 Every child deserves access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene.

As we commemorate the 2026 International Day of the African Child with the theme “Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child in Africa” Bridge That Gap Initiative joins voices across the continent to advocate for the rights, health, and wellbeing of every African child.

Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is not a privilege—it is a fundamental right that supports children's health, dignity, education, and future opportunities.

Today, let us renew our commitment to creating communities where every child can thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.

🌍 Together, let's build an Africa where no child is left behind.

🕊️ Advancing Youth-Led Peacebuilding and Community Resilience

On June 9, 2026, Bridge That Gap Initiative joined policymakers, development practitioners, civil society actors, youth leaders, traditional and religious institutions, and media stakeholders at the Delimi PROSPER Policy and Learning Forum; and the presentation of the Youth and Resource-Based Peacebuilding Report in Kaduna.

Implemented by Engaging Borders SRD, the Delimi PROSPER Project has been instrumental in promoting youth-led preventive peacebuilding within the context of resource-based conflicts. The forum provided a valuable platform to reflect on lessons learned, examine emerging challenges, and explore practical pathways for strengthening resilience, social cohesion, and sustainable peace in Nigeria.

A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Youth and Resource-Based Peacebuilding Report, a policy-oriented publication that captures youth perspectives, field experiences, implementation insights, and evidence-based recommendations for enhancing preventive peacebuilding and non-kinetic approaches to conflict management.

The discussions reinforced a critical message: young people are not just beneficiaries of peacebuilding efforts—they are powerful agents of change whose voices, ideas, and leadership are essential to building peaceful and resilient communities.

🌱🤝 Building Interfaith Partnerships for Climate Action in Kaduna

Last week, the Bridge That Gap Initiative (BTG) team paid a strategic advocacy visit to the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, where we were warmly received by the Deputy Director General, Rev. Fr. Anthony Shawuya.

The meeting explored opportunities for collaboration in advancing environmental sustainability through interfaith action and community engagement. Discussions reaffirmed a shared belief that protecting our environment is a collective responsibility that transcends religious, cultural, and social boundaries.

Rev. Fr. Shawuya aptly stated, that "the environment and its concerns must be everybody’s concern.”

This powerful reminder highlights the important role faith-based institutions can play in promoting environmental stewardship, climate awareness, and sustainable practices within communities.

We are excited about the prospects of working together to strengthen interfaith collaboration and inspire collective action toward a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient Kaduna.🌍
