In a novel approach to clean energy generation, Valencia, Spain is transforming cemeteries into solar power stations.
The “Requiem in Power” (RIP) project aims to establish the largest urban solar farm in the country by installing panels on rooftops within city cemeteries.
When complete, the project will generate over 440,000 kilowatts of energy and save 140 tons of carbon emissions every year.
This innovative strategy utilizes existing space, avoiding the need to convert agricultural land, while still generating substantial clean energy.
