JUST IN:
FG to evacuate over 742 Nigerians in South Africa before June 30

18/06/2026

A must read: Some Kachalla Terrorists from ohaofia kidnapped two young girls and demanded ₦20 million ransom, ₦10 million for each of them.

The youths of Ohaofia did not wait for the governor.
They did not wait for politicians. They did not wait for anybody. They organized themselves, went into the bush, rescued their two sisters, and apprehended the kidnappers.

The most important thing is that the girls were brought back alive.

Surprisingly, this story did not make major headlines across the country. Yet, it is one of those stories that shows the courage, unity, and determination that still exist in our communities.

The people of Ohaofia stood up for their own when it mattered most.

Whether this is the direction communities should take in the face of growing insecurity is a conversation Nigerians must have.

One thing is certain: the youths of Ohaofia have shown courage that many people will not forget.

Kudos to Ohaofia Youths.

The PSPBA Staff Retreat for 2026 focused on the theme: "ONE AGENCY, ONE VISION: STRENGTHENING TEAM COHESION, WELLNESS AND REFLECTION FOR BETTER IMPACT".

The 3-day Retreat which held between Sunday June 14 to Wednesday June 17, 2026 was indeed a moment of deep reflection, team bonding and refreshment for better impact.

Staff were truly renewed and refreshed to handle tasks and responsibilities with renewed vigour.

Our gratitude goes to the Government of Plateau for the support, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation through the GIZ-PEACECORE Project, our external facilitators Geoffrey Lamwesh and Dr. Godwin Okoko and all other facilitators who made the event not just memorable but, insightful.

We also must commend staff for their disposition to learning, relearning and unlearning latest approaches to dealing with issues of conflict and peace building.

The PSPBA will continue work until we build a Plateau State that is at peace with itself and rest of the world.

Once upon a time in Nigeria, there was Okada Air. Long before there was Air Peace, Ibom Air and several of these airlines today. It was the first official private airline in Nigeria, owned by the Esama of Benin, Chief Sir Gabriel Igbinedion. What became of that airline?

Okada Air was founded in 1983. At its peak it operated over 30 aircraft, flew both domestic and international routes, and employed thousands of Nigerians. It was a giant. For over a decade it was the pride of private enterprise in Nigeria, proof that an African man could build something world class without waiting for government permission or foreign validation.

Then in 1995, the military government of Sani Abacha revoked its operating license over maintenance issues. No other meaningful explanation. No appeal. Just a stroke of a pen from the government. By 1997 the airline had completely ceased operations. Thirty aircraft grounded. Thousands of jobs gone. A national pride left to rust on the tarmac.

That is what happened to Okada Air.

Okada Air was not killed by turbulence. It was not killed by mechanical failure. It was killed by the oldest disease in African governance, power in the hands of the wrong people.

But they could not ground the concept. You cannot permanently kill a true idea. You can only delay it.

Because today, Allen Onyema and all the new generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs in the aviation industry looked at the sky and said, if he could do it then, we can do it better now.

I know you may be tempted to think that Chief Igbinedion failed. But I disagree. I think the Nigerian system failed him. Because come to think of it, was there no way the government could have stepped in and rescue such a mighty airline from utter collapse, even if it means taking over the airline and managing it properly?

Was there no way the government could have stepped in and preserved that legacy of our first private airline as a country? I believe that an agreement could have been reached with...

JUST IN: PRESS RELEASE

STATEMENT BY THE PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT ON RECENT PUBLIC COMMENTARIES FOLLOWING A HIGH COURT JUDGMENT RELATING TO JOS NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The Plateau State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has taken note of the various public commentaries, concerns, and reactions expressed by citizens and stakeholders following the recent judgment of the Plateau State High Court in a matter involving Jos North Local Government Council and the issuance of certificates of indigeneship and residency.

Government is deeply concerned by the manner in which the subject has generated heated public debates and commentaries capable of heightening tension among communities that have coexisted peacefully for decades.

While recognizing the constitutional right of citizens to express their views on matters of public interest, Government urges all individuals, groups, and stakeholders to exercise restraint, responsibility, and caution in their public engagements on this matter.

It is important to emphasize that the Jos North Local Government Council, like any other party dissatisfied with a judicial pronouncement, retains the constitutional and legal right to seek redress through the appellate process. As such, all parties should allow the due process of law to take its full course without resorting to actions or statements capable of undermining public peace and harmony.

The Plateau State Government remains firmly committed to the rule of law, constitutionalism, and the independence of the Judiciary. We will continue to provide an enabling environment in which all residents can lawfully pursue their legitimate activities while respecting the local customs, values, and traditions.

Government will not stand by and allow individuals or groups with vested interests to exploit the current situation to incite hatred, sow division, promote suspicion, or undermine the peaceful coexistence that Plateau State has worked hard to build and sustain over the years.

As a responsible government, we cannot pre-judge, endorse, or condemn the substance of a judicial decision through public commentary. The separation of powers, which is fundamental to our democratic system, requires respect for the decisions of the courts and the legal processes available for reviewing such decisions.

Where any party or affected Local Government Council is dissatisfied with the judgment, the law provides clear and accessible avenues for redress, including the right of appeal. We therefore urge all concerned parties to pursue any grievances strictly within the ambit of the law.

Government further notes that the issues of indigeneship, citizenship, residency rights, and the status of persons born and resident in locations other than their ancestral states or local government areas have long been subjects of constitutional, legal, and scholarly discourse across Nigeria. These matters have featured prominently in deliberations at various National Conferences, constitutional review exercises, and policy discussions over the years.

Consequently, it would be inappropriate to isolate or reduce these complex national issues to a single Local Government Area in Plateau State. The questions raised by the judgment transcend Jos North Local Government Area and are part of broader national conversations that affect numerous communities and local government councils across the Federation.

The Plateau State Government therefore calls on all residents, community leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to preserving the peace and unity of our state. We must collectively resist any attempt to politicize, misrepresent, or weaponize this matter in ways that could threaten social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.

Government reassures the people of Plateau State of its unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, inclusion, and the protection of the rights and dignity of every resident, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or cultural background. We remain dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding, and shared prosperity for all.
