Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunted children in the world, with a national prevalence rate of 32 percent of children under five. An estimated 2 million children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition (SAM), but only two out of every 10 children affected is currently reached with treatment. Seven percent of women of childbearing age also suffer from acute malnutrition.

Rescue A Child Initiative-RACI
"About 20 million children under five worldwide are severely malnourished, which leaves them more vulnerable to illness and early death. Around three-quarters of these children can be treated with "ready-to-use therapeutic foods".
These highly fortified and energy-rich foods provide ample nutrients for malnourished children aged over six months to be treated at home. They need no refrigeration, and can be used even where hygiene conditions are not ideal."

Today, Rescue A Child Initiative-RACI team visited the Ipokia Local Government Education Authority to introduce them to our project and engage them as stakeholders.
At RACI, we believe in creating an empowered community where school teachers, parents, and students can provide immediate first-aid care in cases of sickness and domestic accidents when health professionals are not available.
We recognize that stakeholder engagement is critical to the successful implementation of any project, and we are committed to working closely with the Education Authority and other stakeholders to achieve our goals.
